Many browser related problems can be fixed by clearing your cache
and/or cookies, but it's important to know how each impacts your browser
before you delete them.
Getting started
Your web browser's "Cache" is a place where information is stored which helps webpages load faster. "Cookies" are small pieces of information store on your computer which save website customization.- Clear your cookies to fix: Sign-in problems (not being able to sign-in, not being able to stay signed-in) and error messages about setting user cookies.
- Keep in mind: Clearing your cookies will delete all website information stored in your browser (passwords, sign-in information, site-specific preferences, etc).
- Clear your cache to fix: Pages that hang, freeze, don't finish loading, or contain old content, and online applications (like games) that don't respond.
Microsoft Internet Explorer
Version 7
- Click Tools | Internet Options.
- Click the General tab.
- Under "Browsing history," click Delete.
- Click Delete files, then click Yes.
- Click Delete cookies, then click Yes.
- Click Close.
- Click OK.
- Close and restart your browser.
Version 8
- Click Tools | Internet Options.
- Under "Browsing history," click Delete.
- Select the following checkboxes:
- Temporary Internet files and website files
- Cookies and website data
- Click Delete.
- Click OK.
- Close and restart your browser.
Mozilla Firefox
- Version 3 for PC: Click Tools | Clear Recent History.
Version 3 for Mac: Click Firefox | Clear Recent History.
Version 18 and above for all OS: Click Firefox | History | Clear Recent History. - Next to "Details," click the down arrow
. - Select the following checkboxes:
- Cookies
- Cache
- Active Logins
- Using the "Time range to clear" drop-down menu, select Everything.
- Click Clear Now.
- Close and restart your browser.
Apple Safari
- Click the Safari/Edit icon
| Reset Safari. - Select the following checkboxes:
- Empty the cache
- Remove all cookies
- Click Reset.
- Close and restart your browser.
Google Chrome
- Click the Tools icon | Settings.
- Click Settings.
- Click Show advance settings.
- Under "Privacy," click Clear browsing data.
- Select the following checkboxes:
- Empty the cache
- Delete cookies and other site and plug-in data
- Click Clear browsing data.
- Close and restart your browser.
